As a big fan of standup comedy, comedian Jim Gaffigan holds a bacon grease laden place in my cholesterol clogged heart. I may be a bit biased as Mr. Gaffigan was born in raised in Chesterton, Indiana (a place where I lived for a few years post college) but he is one of the funniest and unique comedians around today. While the name Jim Gaffigan might not sound all that familiar I am sure you have seen some of his work.
Jim Gaffigan is probably most famous for his bit poking fun of the microwave delicacy known as “Hot Pockets” – see video clip above. Jim has also appeared several times on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Dr. Katz, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, That ’70s Show, Flight of the Conchords, Law and Order, and the TBS series My Boys. My Boys in my opinion is one of the most underrated sitcoms out there. What makes it especially enjoyable is the fact that the comedy takes place in Chicago and is centered on a beat reporter for the Chicago Cubs. Jim Gaffigan’s character Andy resides in Hoffman Estates and they constantly poke fun at the Chicagoland suburbs. It’s too bad Jim Gaffigan is no longer a part of the show. Jim has also appeared in several commercials for Sierra Mist with Micahel Ian Black- my favorite being the infamous “Holiday Hawk” (see below video).
Aside from Jim TV and movie career, he has released 7 standup comedy albums including: Luigi’s Doghouse (2001), Economics II (2001), More Moo Moos (2003), The Last Supper (2004), Doing My Time (2004), Beyond the Pale (2006), and King Baby (2009). Jim is currently on tour promoting his latest release King Baby. Remain tour dates are listed below.
